One of the most celebrated gospel singer, Tope Alabi, has said the newly released video of her chart-bursting album, Agbelebu gulped a lot of money. The artiste, who refused to disclose the exact amount spent on the video production, however added that the money was justifiable considering the quality of the video in terms of picture quality and costumes.
She also said the production was the first time she would dedicate much time and money to the video of any of her works.
Alabi said, ‘‘It took us a year to produce it and it was shot in Abeokuta, Lagos and Erin Ijesha Water Falls in Osun State. We faced logistical challenges and some people nearly prevented us from using the location because they wanted money. We had to do what they requested. We also waited for many hours to ensure that the place was free of visitors before we could use it because we didn’t need people in the background.’’
According to her, she had finished with some tracks in the album before receiving a ‘divine direction to abandon them and start all over again.’
Stating that talented music producer, Akin Alabi directed the video, the singer noted that the sequencing of the lyrics and tracks would appeal to any music lover who watches the video.
Besides, the singer and her husband, Soji, are reaching out to orphans and those in need through a platform, MarDeborah Comforter Foundation. She said her husband usually offers assistance to indigent people and they reasoned that such charitable disposition would be more coordinated if they initiate a forum to cater for the needy.
‘‘We plan to go to orphanage homes to entertain them, give them gifts and cook for them. But if we are not allowed to cook for them, we will buy what they want and allow them do the cooking. We want to give back more to the society. I should not only be getting honorarium as a singer, there is a need to reach out to those in need too, ’’ she added.
