Samuel, who lives at 9, Akeem Street, Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on assault.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Corporal Uche Simon, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 11 at 29, Akeem Street, Mile 12, Lagos.
Simon said that the accused pushed one Ayodele Aisa, into boiling palm oil because she declined a relationship with him.
She said: “The complainant was sent by her parent to buy “akara” (bean cake) when the accused accosted her.
“He asked her for friendship but Aisa declined.
“This led to exchange of words and quarrel eventually.
“He pushed the complainant into boiling palm oil, which resulted in injury on Aisa’s left hand.”
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos-State, 2011.
The Chief Magistrate, Omolade Awope, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Awope adjourned the case till June 18 for hearing.
