Saturday Newswatch gathered that residents of the area and neighbouring villages woke up to discover the corpse on the electric pole.The incident which many believed occurred at about midnight, left the suspected thief burnt severely with no body willing to identify with the corpse.
When Saturday Newswatch got to the scene, the lifeless body was still dangling on the pole with the tools used in cutting some of the electric wires.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at the outskirts of the town, close to a quarry station.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Plateau State, Charles Ezeala, who confirmed the incident noted that investigation has commenced on the issue with a view to unravel the identity of those who may have worked with the suspect.
Meanwhile, the quarry manager, Engr. Toma Davou, said they came to the Quarry site in the morning and met the electrocuted lifeless body on the electric pole.
He said they raised alarm and called the Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to the scene, saying they could not establish the identity of the victim.
Similarly, Spokesman of the vigilante group in Dadin Kowa, Aminu Mu’azu, said the incident could have happen at midnight as they used to put off light in the entire area, and take cover in strategic positions in order to secure the area.
He said it is believed that the suspect had succeeded in cutting some of the electric wires just as power was restored and he was electrocuted.
As at the time of filing this report, the corpse has been brought down from the pole, and taken to the morgue by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
