Anambra state government has reiterated his administration’s resolve to provide the
judiciary with necessary facilities that would speed up justice system in the
state.
Speaking at the official handover of 36 FORD Saloon
Cars to the state presidents of the customary courts and their registrars at
the governor’s lodge Amawbia, Governor Willie Obiano said it was part of
measures put in place to re-build human infrastructure in the state. He
advised the recipients to reciprocate the gesture by increasing their
productivity and output for the overall good of the state.
He charged them to speed up dispensation of litigations pending
in their different courts and assured the state government readiness to provide
them with the necessary infrastructure that would enhance the administration of
justice system in the state.
Governor Obiano tasked the judges serving in the state to increase
the velocity of work in their domain with the drive to dispense off cases in
courts and reduce the number of awaiting trial inmates in the various prisons by 50 percent in six months .
‘I want to task the chief judge to ensure that before six months, half of the cases pending in the various courts are dispensed, because
we have so many cases in court with various reasons, that is why we are trying
to provide you with enabling environment to improve speedy justice system in
the state’’ He Charged
Governor Obiano also promised to extend his housing scheme programme
to accommodate the members of the bench as the legislators are currently being
considered.
Responding, the chief judge of the state, Justice Philip
Omeadi extolled the governor for fulfilling his promise made to them and assured
him of their commitment to dispense
all cases pending in their courts in the
bid to live up his expectation to decongest the Anambra state prisons..
