Silent Battle Between Federal Representative And Anambra State Speaker Tickens

By Ajayi Bamidele
The long silent battle between the federal house representatives member representing Ogbaru constituency. Honourable Afam Ogene and the speaker of Anambra state house of assembly , Right Honourable Chinwe Nwaebili over an alleged domestic violence that needs urgent intervention by relevant stakeholders, tickens.
Speaker, Anambra State Assembly, Chinwe Nwaebili, is allegedly currently at war with her father, Igwe P.C.U. Afebero, traditional ruler of Ogbakuba community in Ogbaru local government area over the latter’s plans to confer chieftaincy title on the member representing Ogbaru federal constituency in the House of Representatives and house committee deputy chairman, Media and Public Affairs, Victor Afam Ogene.

The speaker, sources in the community revealed, has taken issue with her father over the royal father’s decision to honour the federal lawmaker with a chieftaincy title in appreciation of his “quality representation” and “numerous empowerment gestures” towards the people of the constituency, especially the youths.
The monarch, who is said to have identified with Ogene since he was elected into the national assembly, had decided to honour him with a chieftaincy title today, but his daughter who is rumoured to have an ambition to wrestle the house of representatives seat from Ogene in the forthcoming general election, was said to have been infuriated by her father’s open support for Ogene.

Sources in the community said that Nwaebili was particularly angry with her father because if he confers the chieftaincy title on Ogene, people of the constituency will interpret the gesture to mean that her father had tacitly endorsed Ogene’s re-election ambition as against her own interest in the seat.

Meanwhile, Ogene, sources say, has already prevailed on the monarch to shelve the chieftaincy award so that he would not be seen to be a source of discord between the traditional ruler and his daughter.
In a statement issued yesterday to that effect by his media aide, Edward Dibiana, Ogene, announcing his withdrawal from the chieftaincy title stated, “the chieftaincy title conferment on him (Ogene) by His Royal Highness, Igwe P.C.U Afubero, Eze Izagbo II of Ogbakuba, Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State, billed for Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Ogbakuba is being shelved, to avoid the intense politicisation and attempts to breach public peace, using the occasion as excuse.”

He however thanked the people of Ogbakuba for the honour done him and pledged to always abide by his principle of politics without malice.
