According to the Marietta Daily Journal, MDJ, Mr. Eto, a Nigerian naturalized USA citizen was recently charged along four others for stealing about $686,000 from the Kennesaw State University, Georgia, USA.The World Igbo Congress Chairman, according to the charges, accepted more than $200,000 in kick-backs through inflated costs or services never rendered.
Mr. Eto used Soil and Environmental Testing Service (SETS), a business he owned and operated to bill KSU unreasonable fees for work done by SETS, according to investigators. The investigators added that more than $61,000 of the money KSU paid to SETS was later transmitted illegally to another company, Shane Environmental.vThe WIC Chairman’s Bond for Bail was set at $100,000. He was ordered to surrender his International Passport as a condition of the Bail.
If convicted, the embattled WIC Chairman will be facing 5 to 20 years in a United States prison.
Last year a member of the Executive of the World Igbo Congress Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Mekowulu, was sentenced to ten years in jail for fraud. Mr. Eto is expected to contest for re-election.
