He warned against indiscriminate dumping of refuse at Fegge , Onitsha South local government by residents.
A press statement from Commissioner for Housing , Lawrence Chinwuba thus stated: The action governor today inspected the clearing of huge refuse at Fegge Onitsha South. He also ordered the immediate desilting (cleaning) of the gutters and drains from Head Bridge to Upper Iweke to allow the free flow of the drains.
He however warned residents to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the drains more so during rainy season to avoid flooding and blocking of the drains. He reminded the citizens that dumping of refuse on the drains contributes in over flooding as the water is trapped without free flows.
At Nnewi, he appealed to land lords to stop blocking the drains and gutters with construction materials otherwise the state govt would stop such landlord from finishing their building and with a hefty fine.
It is my pleasure to remind all that since assumption of office, His Excellency has focused very well on environmental face lift of Onitsha and the major urban cities of Anambra State. We are not by an means neglecting the other towns and villages. We have a blue map of tackling the waste disposal in the other local govt areas.
This is the third time, Head Bridge to Upper Iweke is receiving attention due to the heavy flow of runoff water also coming from Awada and associated sand and refuse.
Our appeal is for the citizen to help us sustain environmental cleaning which is very costly but we are determine to win and take back our cities from dirty.
