Political leaders, traditional rulers and minent personalities like Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, Engr Arthur Eze , Mr Peter Obi , Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and South East chairman of the Governor’s Forum Chief Theordore Orji led the pack of Ndigbo to throw in their support for Jonathan’s second term.
Chairman of TAN , Chief Ifeanyi Ubah of the Capital Oil fame said Jonathan is the man to beat in the election even as speakers after speakers commended him for his vision which has turned out to be a revolution that will play a key role in ensuring that responsible governance is ushered in through the re-election of President Jonathan.
Report has it that over one million Nigerians electorates at the venue urged President Jonathan to seek the renewal of his mandate.
TAN Director Mr Kunle Fagbemi confirmed that over one point five million have signed their signatures in support of bid to persuade Jonathan to stand for the 2015 general elections.
In his speech at the occasion, the minister of power, Prof Chinedu Nebo said that the President has done more than any of all his predecessors in their first tenure.
He listed one after another the very many achievement s of Jonathan which have contributed immensely to the transformation of lives of Nigerians. Prof Nebo noted that the Midas touch of Dr Jonathan is not limited to the power sector as all other sectors of the economy has been positively touched.
The Deputy Speaker of House of Reps, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, in his speech noted that the forty three senators from the south east and the over one hundred and seventy law makers in the House of Reps have decided to work with TAN toward the realization of the presidents’ second term.
He said that Ndigbo can now fly from the airports in their locality because the president has restructured the airports in the zone a situation which he noted was not so before.
The Secretary to Anambra state government , Hon Oseloka Obazie who represented Governor Willie Obiano at the occasion expressed the preparedness of the state to galvanize other states of the federation to rally support for the president to run for the second tenure.
The chairman of the South East governors forum, Dr Theodore Orji, the Abia state governor in his speech said that there is no alternative to Dr Goodluck Jonathan. He pointed out that none of the Dr Goodluck’s predecessors cared to remember the Igbos like the incumbent president,
He recalled that the Ndigbo was united behind the president in 2011 presidential election and that nothing has really changed to warrant a change since there is no need to change a winning team.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Pious Ayim was presented with a register of one million , six hundred people who have appended their signatures in support of Jonathan’ reelection .
The SGF who said he was proud of his pele for blazing the trail in the demand for Dr Jonthan expressed the optimism that the president would heed the clarion call of his people and seek the renewal of his mandate so that he can deepen the good work he has been doing for the nation which he noted has made him second to none.
