The National President of the Nigeria Civil Service
Union, Comrade Kiri Shuaibu has charged newly elected exco in Anambra state to
take full implementation of the enhance civil service wage as priority in the
discharge of their duty.
He gave the
charge in Awka at the inauguration of the 6th Anambra State Civil Service
Union, stating that the new exco should work with the new administration led by
Governor Willie Obiano, to actualize the enhanced civil service salary
structure to the benefit of the state workers.
The National President, who was represented by the
Vice National President South-South, Comrade Mike Ogbulafor stressed the need
for the enhanced minimum wage to be taken as priority, urged the Anambra
council to the set pace for others to follow.
He urged the members of the new Exco to live
above-board in order not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
In his acceptance remark, the newly sworn in Chairman, Anambra state Civil Service Union, Comrade Ignatus Okafor assured the national body of their readiness to pursue the full implementation of the workers salary and solicit further for improved welfare package for the state civil servants.

He however called on the opposing party to join
hands with him to move the state civil service union to the next level.
On his part, the defeated chairmanship aspirant in
the election, Comrade Emeka Iweanya condemned the exercise and called for a
fresh poll that would reflect the true interest of the workers.
The national officers of the union who monitored the
proceedings during the delegates conference applauded the peaceful conduct of
the election which produced the state officers of the union, describing the
election as free and fair.
