Anglican Primates Urge Governor Obiano To Prosecute Demolition Offenders
Primate Church of Nigeria , Anglican Communion , Archbishop Nicholas Oko led all the Bishops in Anglican Province on the Niger Anambra state to condemn the demolition of St Ebenezer’s Anglican Church Oze Nkwerre Ezunaka in Oyi local government area of the state by unknown hoodlums even though the church members are pointing accusing fingers to the President General of the Community Elder Chris Eluemunor and the some members of the Roman Catholic church.
Archbishop Oko represented by Archbishop on the Niger and Bishop of Aguata diocese, Most Reverend Chris Efobi was accompanied by all the Bishops in the province of the Niger including the Bishop on the Niger/host ,Owen Nwokolo, diocese of Ogbaru Sam Ezeoffor , diocese of Ihiala Ralph Okafor .
Others accompanying Efobi were Bishop of Diocese Amichi Ephraim Ikeakor , Bishop of Nnewi, Godwin Okpala, a Prof , Bishop of Awka diocese Alex C. Ibezim , Bishop of Niger West Prof Emmanuel Nkwoka and Bishop of Mbammili , Henry Okeke among other top Church functionaries like Chancellor of the Diocese on the Niger,Nnamdi Ibegbu ,SAN, clergy and laity.
Despite the heavy down pour the Bishops prayed with hundreds of laity and clergy and emphatically rejected the humiliation to them saying the Church is moving nowhere as the premises is that of Anglican communion and solicited from Governor Willie Obiano to use his good offices and all the paraphernalia of office to produce the perpetrators of the heinous crime against God and humanity.
Efobi said the Province on the Niger has condemned the act of the demolition in its entirety describing it as unfortunate , wondering why sane people should demolish a house of God .
‘’as a province , we condemn it as evil ….we are in democracy and not demo crazy ….. we condemn this act and we call on the Governor of Anambra state , Chief Willie Obiano and his government to produce the perpetrators of the heinous act . ….we are not moving anywhere because God is God of truth and not God of falsehood …we want to know those behind this evil act….let the government come out and tell us those behind this act ….God has given us peace to bear the burden and that is why we defied the rain to be here to condemn this evil act as a united Church worshipping the living God…..we as Igbos are peace loving …we are all affected and we speak with one voice …. People should be law abiding and follow peace with all men………….
