APGA will Grow from Strength to Strength – Obiano

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has assured the members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) that his administration is totally committed to building the party into a strong and dominant political platform that will provide a viable alternative to all Nigerians who desire a new and progressive paradigm of leadership.
Addressing a large population of Councilors and Ward Chairmen from the 326 wards in the state who paid him a solidarity visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia on Wednesday, Governor Obiano maintained that of all the political parties in Nigeria, APGA stands out as the one with the most compelling ideology which emphasizes the supremacy of Nigerians being their brothers’ keepers.
In apparent reaction to the recent spate of defections from the party to rival parties in the country, Governor Obiano re-assured party faithful that APGA was growing stronger by the day as nearly over 3000 members of other opposition parties in the state recently defected to swell the membership strength of the party.
According to him, APGA remains the most viable political platform for Ndigbo at all times as its very principles compliment the core values of the people of the South East and South Southern states of Nigeria.
Chief Obiano also stated the determination of the party leadership to demonstrate the party’s dominance and grassroots appeal in the coming elections boasting that APGA would sweep all the elective positions in the state and still go ahead to vote overwhelmingly for President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that he clinches his second term as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The governor urged the Councilors to ensure that they hold regular meetings and interactive sessions among members in various wards and local governments in order to harness ideas on the growth of the party while staying focused on the overall goals of the party.

To facilitate the effective mobilization of the electorate in the coming elections, Governor Obiano also handed out 21 brand new buses to the legislative councils in Anambra State.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mrs Azuka Enemuo enjoined the councilors to distil the governor’s principles of good governance down to the grassroots. The Honourable Commissioner also urged them to emulate the governor’s commitment and dedication to duty.

A spokesman of the Councilors, Mr. Chukwudi Okwuma thanked the governor for giving them a sense of belonging and playing up their relevance in the party hierarchy and assured him that the councilors would continue to lend their total support to ensure that his vision for Anambra State is fully realized.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Chief Victor Agolue observed that the governor had provided a solid springboard for APGA candidates to excel in the coming elections through his landmark achievements within a reasonably short time.
In his own reaction, the Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Council, Mr. Ikeobi Ejiofor described APGA as a great vehicle to achieve the Igbo aspirations to reclaim a rightful place in national affairs.
Mr Ejiofor further observed that the governor has revived internal democracy and cohesion within the party by upholding its core ideology.
In his own remarks, the governor’s liaison officer for Ekwusigo local government area, Mr. Austin Enemuo noted that governor Obiano has strengthened all necessary logistics for the party to function effectively, noting that as a political movement, APGA has justified the confidence of the people in it.
