The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus
Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor has said he is preoccupied with the development of Peter
University Achina Aguata Council Area of Anambra State, even as he said any
group or individual that donate one block at the University premise will have
the building name after them.
Bishop Ezeokafor who stated this at St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish,
Enugu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, expressed the hope that the
university when completed would provide over 5,000 job opportunities for the
teaming unemployed graduates noting that his major concerns now was to ensure
successful take-off of the University.
According to him, ‘I call on Ndi Anambra both at home and in the diaspora
to come and invest in the school. We need serious financial support, classroom
blocks, administrative block, auditorium, multipurpose hall, students’ hostel
as well as school buses.
‘Whoever that will give us any of these aforementioned items will have
their names written in gold. Our mission and vision is to build a world class
university that will churn out job creators and men and women of goodwill; it
will be accommodating, ecumenical and affordable.
‘Our emphasis will be on the learner because we want to put a stop to
moral decadence in our society and as well have the minds of the youths
trained,’ Bishop Ezeokafor said.
The Catholic prelate noted that the University would be open to all noting
that the essence of establishing the University was to assist the State and
Federal Governments in correcting the anomalies in education sector adding that
morality, hard work, transparency and merit would be their watch-word.
He called on public spirited individuals to invest heavily in the
University noting that the diocese has many ways of rewarding the donors and as
well as map out plans on how to encourage intending investors.
