The Anambra State Governor’s strategic war against crime
continues to yield commendable results as the Anti-Crime Crack Squad code named
“Operation Kpochapu” yesterday, recovered arms and ammunition, including one
AK4, Military rifle, handcuffs, 1,500 live ammunition and 30 fully loaded
magazines, from an uncompleted estate at Uruagu Nnewi, owned by an overseas-based
businessman.
The arm cache and others were recovered following a tip-off.
Similarly,
the joint security task force, comprising the Police, Army, Navy, Department
State Service, DSS, and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, raided a suspected
baby factory at Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area and rescued
three teenage pregnant girls during the operation.
A woman popularly
known as nurse who ran the home and her agent, were arrested by the force.
According to a source, the bubble burst after one of the
pregnant girls was allegedly delivered of a baby boy but was dispossessed of
the baby.
She was said to have raised the alarm when she could not stomach
the disappearance of her new born baby.
The baby was later recovered from the owner of the home by the
security operatives and handed over to the mother.
In a related development, the joint task force has uncovered a
criminal hideout in Nnewi after a search on an erosion site in Nnewi North Council
Area Anambra State.
