Open Letter To Governor Willie Obiano

 By Ohagi Elochukwu Primus
Yes I know, Today 1st Octorber is the 54th anniversary of our independence. And the celebration is also on going in Anambra State. Yes I know! But the question one may ask is, are we in Anambra celebrating this anniversary happily? Your answer is as good as mind.
Yes I know, Mr. Willy Obiano is our governor! Yes he is performing well or should I say, he started on a good note! Yes, a visit to upper-Iweka will tell you!
Barely two weeks after our courageous Governor took over the mantle of leadership of the state, he beefed up security in the state, touts in the state was sent packing.
For the first time in the history of Anambra State, one can comfortably answer call in Upper-Iweka, without forgetting the phone in the pockets of hoodlums. All thanks to our action governor.Continue...
Did it last? Yes it didn't!Let me say that prior to the governors inception into office, he knows very well what an average Anambrarian suffers. He knows that you can't ply from Head Bridge to upper-Iweka without some touts forcing out some amount of money from you!
He knows that it’s suicidal for one to stop in upper-Iweka at night.
But the question is...Do the governor still know all he knew before he became governor?
Yes...He doesn’t!
How can he know when sycophants now surround him, telling him exactly what he will love to hear!
How can he know that we don't have light again when those sycophants supplies him with constant power, not minding what happens to the masses!
How can he know, when all the questions he ask comes with a sycophantic reply ' it has been taken care of sir!'
How can he know when he is no more an ordinary bank manager but most revered governor!
Yes you heard me right, I called it ordinary bank manager, when you become a governor in Nigeria, or dream of becoming a governor like I am dreaming, and you will know how 'ordinary' bank manager can be.
Yes! He will surely not know!
That's why I have decided to use this opportunity to remind him once again that those things he knew before he assumed office still lingers. They have not magically changed.
Am I really wasting my time? Will the governor ever read this? Yes he will.
If Ndi Igbo page will post this! Yes he will read it... If you that will if you that is reading this right now can share this post. He will if the journalist among us here can as well publish it. Then am sure he will...
With the assurance that the governor is reading this write-up, I can as well begin to point out to him those things his position has made him forget.
A governor that moves on convoy can as well think that hold-ups doesn't exist again on Nigerian roads...funny!
That's why I must inform you that touts are still holding people hostage in Anambra state, especially in the commercial city of Onitsha. This touts are disturbing the free flow of motorist.
They extort money from Okada riders, keke drivers and taxi drivers are not spared.
This people carry logs of woods and always threaten to beat up drivers who refused to part with their money.
Mr Governor, don't listen to those sycophants telling you all is well... Things are not well with us in Onitsha. There is lawlessness in Onitsha.
if you think am lying, take a trip to Ochanja round about, go to okpoko junction, you can as well make a stop around main market and environs, you will feel what we are feeling.
I don't need to tell you that this touts has scared customers away from Onitsha...They are tired of loosing money to this touts. They are tired of having their cars seized by this touts. They are tired of being bullied by this touts while police men stay nearby without doing anything.
Mr. Governor Sir, permit me to tell you that we the good people of Anambra are tired of paying this illegal security fees (Ego Nche). This money is illegal and uncalled for. We pay for monthly security fees in a state that receives millions as security vote. We are subjected to 100naira per room monthly fees for security.
This is stealing and illegal.
We even pay ANSEPA levy. We have to pay monthly before our dustbins can be evacuated. These monies are being forced on poor masses.
Dear governor, its an insult that at this time Enugu Electricity Distribution Company are still giving us an estimated bills. They sell prepaid meters to the highest bidders. This is an equipments that supposed to come to the people freely. This is legalized robbery.
The police men are not left out...they also engage in forcing money out from the poor mass. Illegal arrest everywhere! Citizens can't work around again in the evening without ending up in Okpoko police station or the most deadly Okija police station.
Finally Sir...May I remind you that many youths in your state are still jobless and are warming up to be part of your transformation agenda.
Thanks and may God bless you!
Happy Independence!!!
