Speaking while declaring his intention to run for Anambra North senatorial zone in the 2015 elections at Ogbaru, Anambra on Thursday, Obaze said the governor had all the qualities to take the party to greater heights.
Obaze, a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters, assured the people of more dividends of democracy if elected to represent the zone at the National Assembly.
“If I was able to attract projects to the zone as a commissioner such as roads , schools, hospitals, markets , health centres, I can do even better if elected as a National Assembly member,“ he said.
He said that he had garnered enough administrative and political experience to make impact in the policy formulation of the country.
According to him, quality representation involves knowing the people, their needs and aspirations.
“We shall give hope to the hopeless and create enabling environment for meaningful developments,” he said.
He said that Ogbaru had yet to produce a senator, pointing out that for equity and fairness the council should be allowed to have a shot at the senate presently.
Anambra North senatorial zone has seven local governments namely Anambra East, Anambra West, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum and Ogbaru.
The declaration was attended by the stakeholders of Anambra North senatorial zone, including local government chairmen and councillors.
Sen. Alphonso Igbeke, Nelson Onubuogu and Patrick Obianwu, all of APGA, are also contenders to the same senatorial seat.
Former aviation minister, Stella Oduah, Sen. Margery Okadigbo and Sen. Joy Emordi, all of the PDP, are also contending for the seat.
