Cement truck crushes police inspector in Kaduna

Tragedy struck on Thursday in Kaduna when a Dangote cement-bearing truck with a Jigawa  number plate,  XA874GRK, crushed a Police inspector to death with scores of others injured.
Also, a camera man, Shehu Usman, with the Kaduna State Television, had his legs broken in the same accident. He was among those rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
The inspector, whose name was given as  Obed Ezra, was among those deployed to maintain law and order at the venue of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary holding at the Kaduna International trade fair complex.
It was gathered that the trailer lost control as a result of break failure. It destroyed  over eight  vehicles and no fewer than 12 motorcycles.

The driver of the truck was no where to be found as he was said to have abandoned the trailer and took to his heels for fear of bein‎g lynched.
As of the time of filing this report, the mangled body of the police Inspector was still under the tyres of the trailer as efforts were being made to evacuate the body parts.
An eyewitness,  who identified  himself  as Nahala, whose motorcycle was among those crushed by the truck, said of the accident, “I was sitting on my motorcycle when all of sudden I saw the trailer ‎coming in my direction, crushing vehicles; so I hurriedly ran leaving my newly bought motorcycle which was crushed beyond repairs.
“Some women, who came to sell food, were among those who were injured, including a small girl, and were rushed to the hospital.
“Some of them sustained fractured legs and arms and a police man is still under the trailer.”
Abdullahi Maiganga,  a meat seller, said he narrowly escaped being crushed, but lamented that his motorcycle and meat were crushed in the process.
