Bokiestar-1What are you working on for now?
I am working on so many things; I am trying to bring out another track. It is not going to take long, I will soon be dropping the single and I am hoping it is going to be a hit.
How soon are we expecting an album from you?
As we know, dropping an album is not easy, I still want to make more noise and bring out more singles before I talk about an album. I want people to know more about me before I talk of producing an album.
How many singles do you intend to drop before you release an album?
No particular number for now. Right now, I am doing everything by myself so, it is not really easy. I don’t have a sponsor or any support. So, it is not that easy for a girl like me doing everything by myself. Let’s see how it goes, if I get sponsors from now, I can think of releasing an album.
What is the idea behind the title of your first single, Promise and fail?
I would say that it has a lot to do with my personal life. It is just about me, I put it together because I felt every person has his/her own story to tell. People always promise and fail, especially guys. For me, it is my past relationship, so, it is all about guys that promised and failed.
What inspires your kind of music?
I would say that I am a person that has music inside and right now, I still have more songs that I have written but yet to release. My songs are all about love and emotions.
Would you say that you are the emotional type?
I don’t know, I can’t answer that one. It is not only about me and guys; it is about love in general. Even a mother’s love for a child can go unrequited. When a mother loves a child and she does not get back the love in return from the child, how do you think she will feel? The citizens need love from the government and when they did not get it from them, how do you think they will feel. These are some of the things that inspire my music. So it is not only about me.
What is your journey into the music industry like?
I started music in Port-Harcourt before I came down to Lagos five years ago. But, it was not that serious for me then. I did not know how to start, so, when I came to Lagos, I stayed in Lagos for like a year. While in Lagos, I got myself enrolled into Tenstrings Music School for a year. After that, I went back into music again. But before then I felt I needed to go and study more about music. That was how I went to school to do one year diploma in music.
If music was what you had in mind while growing up, why did you not study that in the university?
Because some parents would not want us to do what we wanted to do then. It is only when you grow up that you have the freedom to do what you feel you want to do. Then, my father wanted me to be a teacher but I told him that I would not teach. All my whole life, I never liked teaching and my mother wanted me to be a nurse too. It is rather sad I never wanted any of their choices for me.

Is there any plan of going into Nollywood?
Yes, I am even doing some movies in Nollywood now. I featured in Lekki Girls, Girls in the Mood among others and in each of the movies I did, I played a major role. My pictures are even in the posters.
Between movie and music, which would you prefer?
I would prefer music. I find more fun doing music than movie.
What does love mean to you?
Love means a lot to me. It means fair play, understanding and trust and also communication.
What can get you irritated in an opposite sex?
If you love the person, there is nothing that can irritate you in an opposite sex. Whatever he/she does, you will overlook it. Even if you caught the person having sex right with another person, you would forgive.
Who is you role model in the Nigerian music industry and why
Omawumi is my role model. I like her vocals, she has a wonderful voice and her songs are good as well. Among the male folks, I like Darey’s songs. You need to listen to his songs. When Darey sings, you know he is singing. He delivers lots of messages with good lyrics unlike other musicians we have in the industry today.
What is your take on celebrity marriages and divorces?
I don’t really know but I think it is about understanding. People do not understand themselves before they rush into marriage. And when they finally get into marriage, everybody wants to be the captain; the woman will like to take control of the family without considering the man.
Tell us about your background?
I am from Bayelsa State and I grew up in Yenagoa.
