Terror war: I’m against Jonathan move to borrow $1bn – Buhari

Former Head of a military junta, and leading presidential hopeful of All Progressive Congress [APC], General Muhammadu Buhari has kicked against moves by President Goodluck Jonathan to borrow $1 billion Dollars to prosrcute insurgents in the north east.
General Buhari said, ‘for 30 months as we fought civil war from here to the East, and Nigeria never borrow a dime, and dont forget that Nigeria won the war that continue to keep us as a single entity’.
Buhari position was made in Kano shortly after he commiserat with victims of last Friday multiple blast at Kano central mosque said there was “no basis or cogent reason as to why Nigeria must borrow money to fight the Insurgency.

General Buhari stated that the revenue accrued to the country when there was stability in oil market was enough to purchase military hardware to curtail the security challenges.
The civil war hero noted that the lack of political will on the part of the siting government, high level corruption and looting of national treasury are factors working against the war on terror.
General Buhari lamented the botch efforts by the National Assembly to conduct a public hearing on the matter, pointing out that from indications the “important national issue has once more been swept under the carpet.”
He expressed regret that despite open complaint by the on several occasion the Military prosecuting the war of lack of sophisticated weapons, stressed that nothing significant has been done to address the challenge.
The veteran presidential aspirant disclosed “my worry and concern is that from 1999 to date Nigeria has gotten huge foreign earnings in Dollars and yet no one can say where are these money, Nigeria before now was having its National carrier, with hundreds of shipping Cargos, but today we are practically zero and no one can tell what happened, and now somebody want to put the nation in another trouble by borrowing, the move is totally unacceptable to us’.
In his own contribution to the national question, Senator Olurunbe Momorah (Lagos) who was on the entourage of General Buhari, said that three things would shape the 2015 campaign adding that they includes includes ‘Security, Corruption and Economy.’
