Chief Olusegun Osoba was conspicuously absent at the maiden national convention of the All Progressives Party in Abuja last night, signalling that he was yet to accept the peace overtures by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
The former Governor has been involved in a battle to control the structure of the party in the State with the incumbent Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. But Governor Amosun gained the upper hand.

The United States yesterday posted $18 million in rewards for the capture of Khaid al-Barnawi,leader of Ansaru, a splinter group from Boko Haram, and three other African militants.
They are accused of involvement in the kidnapping of foreigners and attacks on Western targets.
Some $5 million each was offered for the former member of Boko Haram and two founding leaders of the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO) based in the Maghreb region.
A fourth reward of $3 million was set for an Egyptian extremist who has plotted against the US, the State Department said.

OYEGUN EMERGES AS APC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

The first executive governor of Edo State, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has emerged as the new national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He clinched the position last night at the party’s national convention in Abuja after former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva withdrew from the race at 11.27 pm.
Oyegun’s other rival for the post, Chief Tom Ikimi, was yet to show up at the convention at press time, while Chief Sam Jaja, who was also touted as showing interest in the race, did not purchase the nomination form.
