DOCTORS DECLARED ME FIT, BUHARI SAYS IN LONDON


The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari said on Thursday in London that he was certified fit by his doctors to run for the office of the president.
Buhari was speaking at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House in London, United Kingdom.
"I am fit. My doctors have declared me fit. I am going back home for the final phase of the campaign to win the elections," he said.
Buhari said he often laughed whenever he hears stories that he was either bedridden or dead. "I just laughed when I hear some people wishing me dead or saying I was dead," he said.
On poll shift, Buhari said "we are grateful to the international community for openly insisting on free and fair elections."

On youth engagement, he said "I am always moved with the love from youth as we travel through the country."
He said he won't be bogged down by probes of past governments, saying "if we focused on past corruption, we would do nothing for the country."
"All government parastatals have checks and balances. We need to ensure they are followed," he said.
He instead he "will draw a line and allow judiciary do its work," adding that "I again reiterate, there will be no room for corruption in my government."
On the economy he said, "I would run a private sector focused economy, strengthen protected sectors."
On his career as a military man, Buhari declared that "Before u is a former military ruler now converted democrat. I cannot change the past but I can change the future."
