Ndukwe will beat Uba silly, says APGA stalwart.

The immediate past secretary of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra state, Okoli Akirika, a lawyer, yesterday said his party’s candidate for Anambra South Senatorial district, Ernest Ndukwe, would beat his counterpart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Chris Uba, in the February 14 polls.

Akirika who spoke with the Ashiwaju.org in his law chamber in Awka, said Ndukwe, former vice-chairman of the Nigerian communications commission (NCC) is a better candidate for the senatorial seat in every ramification.

He said " Ndukwe has all it takes for such position; he has the education, competence and exposure; so he will floor ChrIs Uba in that election, no doubt about it".

Reminded of Uba's pedigree in Anambra politics, Akirika ,who is the campaign coordinator of the former NCC boss, maintained that generally the people of the state would overwhelmingly cast their votes for APGA in the polls in appreciation of what the APGA government had done for them for nearly nine years now.

Continuing, Akirika said"Anambra State has been an APGA state since 2003 when Mr Peter Obi first contested the governorship election on its platform. I appreciate the fact that our opponents are getting stronger and nosier, bu the good people of Anambra State know where their bread is buttered."

On the issue of multiple candidates "unleashed"on APGA candidates by their opponents of the PDP in the state, Akirika said that the matter was a legal issue that would need amendment of the extant laws before it could be resolved.

He however counseled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could rely on combine effects of sections 31 and 34 of the Electoral Act to act proactively to ensure and insist that those whose names were not published statutorily by it(INEC) would not be allowed to campaign to avoid hardship and inequity against their opponents .

“Because if the situation is allowed as it is now, it can bring about exploitation by a certain political party to the disadvantage of others; it can bring about breach of public peace and order. Mayhem may be unleashed on society," Akirika submitted.
