Politicians Should Eschew Blackmailing of Opponents---Ekwunife

The move to reduce hate speeches that beveled the nation’s political atmosphere and promote peaceful electoral cohesion ahead of the coming general elections, politicians in Anambra state have been advised to dwell more on issue based campaign and eschew name calling in their electioneering exercises.
They are enjoined to embark on the
 drive that would sell mainly their manifesto to the electorates without biased, stressed that electorates are more aware to cast their vote for candidates of their choice whom they know would provide them with favourable political platform.
The member representing, Aniocha, Njikoja/Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Honourable Uche Ekwunife, gave the advice, when a delegation of Anambra Bloggers Chapel paid her a visit in Awka, stressed the need for politicians to ensure that the unity of the state and development of human resources should be the cardinal objective they  ought to seek, rather than hitting up the polity with political speeches that is cable to foment disharmony in the society.


‘’The important thing is for politicians to go and sell their manifesto to the electorates to buy into their project, blackmailing can never give you anything, what has been destined has been destined which no one can ever take away’’.
‘’’Politicians should endeavour to imbibe the culture of selling themselves creditably to the electorates, either they are supported or not, name calling would not give you advantage over your opponents, because people are very wise now and they are politically aware, they know what they want and they now whom they want’’ Ekwunife disclosed.
To experiment their level awareness, the lawmaker,who is the PDP senatorial candidate for Anambra Central reaffirmed that the political climate of the state has changed against what it’s used to be, noted that the people would rather vote for individuals they are sure of its capacity to deliver to them the much expected dividend of democracy than to pride themselves with a political party.
She commended the union and urged them to ensure they lived up to the expected responsibility by the public.
 Her words, ‘’Let me congratulate you first for the privileged you have to work in this team, I believe that this is the first of its kind in Anambra state, the outcome of this team would project the reason for setting it up’’.
‘’I want to urge you to put professionalism into it, put in your best and ensure you do not give it a bad name, don’t make me feel that you are my enemy and don’t make my opponent feel that your are their enemies, do it in such a manner that tomorrow, other people can key into this and you leave a good foundation for other people that will take over from you’’.
Earlier in the visit, the team of Anambra state bloggers chapel headed by the state coordinator,  Mr. Bamidele Ajayi called on the lawmaker to lend credence to the idea that gave birth to the formation of the union and urged politicians in the state to dwell on issue based campaign rather embark on blackmailing of their opponents in the good health of the sate polity.
