I CAN’T BE COWED, FANI-KAYODE TELLS NWC OF PDP

Mr Femi Fani-Kayode says he cannot be intimidated by threat of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discipline him for calling for their sack.
Fani-Kayode, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, stated this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
He spoke shortly after the resignation of the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.
According to him, I am vindicated by Mu`azu`s resignation.
He, however, insisted on total overhauling of the party with the resignation of other members of the NWC for the party to return to its former glory.
“I am glad that about seven hours after I said somebody should resign, somebody listened and stepped down. Every single one of them should go’’, Fani-Kayode said.
“I was a special adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo for three years under PDP and I served as a Minister too.“I served as Director, Media and Publicity of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation. In a sane clime, party members should be able to criticise their colleagues when they go wrong.
“Did they ask for Gov. Ayo Fayose to be disciplined, did they query Gov. Babangida Aliyu and Gov. Sule Lamido?”
According to him, these persons have at different occasions asked for the resignation of the PDP NWC members but they are not reprimanded. He wondered why they want him reprimanded.
He said as a citizen, he had the right to freely express himself, adding that he would never be cowed or intimidated by the threats from the NWC.
Prof. Wale Oladipo, National Secretary of PDP, announced Mu`azu`s resignation to newsmen the end of the 399th NWC meeting.
Mr Olisa Metuh, National Publicity of the PDP, also confirmed Mu`azu`s resignation at a separate briefing.
“I can confirm that we have received the resignation of the party’s national chairman.
“The national chairman, who had health challenge, stayed on for the party’s primaries, the campaigns and the elections after which he travelled abroad for medical treatment.
“Mu`azu, after consultations with his family members and on personal interest, has decided to resign as national chairman of PDP.
“This party commends him for the sacrifice he made during the campaigns in spite of his health. We commend him for the love, dedication and commitment he has for PDP”, Metuh said.
He said that the party wished Mu’azu well and would not forget his services, stressing that he would be celebrated accordingly.
He, however, added that Uche Secondus, the Deputy National Chairman of PDP, would immediately step in as its Acting National Chairman in accordance with its Constitution.
He said the acting chairman would be in the position pending when another chairman would be elected from the South-East. (NAN)
