Police parade 30 criminals, cultits

Police in Anambra state yesterday paraded 30 people arrested for various crimes ranging from car snatching, kidnapping, murder and cultism.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra state Mr. Hassan Karma said the arrest of the criminals mostly from in Obosi in Idemili local government council of Anambra state was effected by a combined  operation of police, Army, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who were “united in seeing that Anambra people sleep with two eyes closed”.

Karma praised the effort of the combined force and counseled other states to emulate from the combined energy of the combined force for effective crime fighting.

Among those arrested were one man kidnapper, car snatching syndicates, a murderer a gang that specialize in vandalizing telecommunication masts and 19 student cultists, mostly belong to Vikin from Nnamdi Azikiwe university, Awka and Federal Polytechnic,  Oko.

Among items recovered from the cultists were ten locally made pistols which police said were usually put to other uses than cultism initiation,  ten axes, ten bags of Indian hemp, a drum, black caps, red candles and mobile phones believed to have been snatched from people.

Karma advised other students to learn from the experience of those caught and say no to cultism. He said that Obosi is the headquarters of secret cult in Anambra state and that police took time to arrest all the ring leaders of the cult groups some of who ran to other states.

They are now in prison custody, he said.

Also, the police brought some of the 48 repentant cultists who Karma said volunteered to renounce their membership of different cult groups.

He praised the state Governor, Willie Obiano who he said has given them every support to succeed in rime fighting.
According to Karma, the 2014 Christmas celebration in Anambra state was very peaceful and the security men wanted this year’s Christmas to be even more peaceful.

Also speaking, the President General of Obosi town Mr.Dan Igbokwubili praised the police for raiding the community of criminal elements who have prevented the citizens of the town from visiting home.

Igbokwubili said that Obosi is now free from criminal elements and urged his people to feel free to visit home because they are now safe.

Karma also confirmed that there was an attack on the oil producing community of Ezi Agulu Out where two persons working in their farm were killed .
