Obiano Solicits F.G's intervention on Failed Nkpor Flyover over Swept By Erosion Menace


Governor Willie Obiano has called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene on the Nkpor Flyover that has been cut off by erosion.
The Governor made the call yesterday in NKpor Flyover, Idemili North council area while inspecting the level of devastation done in the area.

He regretted that similar Federal Government project worth of 25 billion naira executed for Federal Govt previously, has not been remitted to Anambra State coffer.
Chief Obiano assured that he has directed a road construction company known as Infrastructure Development Company (IDC) to apply palliative measure on the road pending the intervention of the federal government.

He urged the people to be patient with the situation as the issue would soon be resolved.
In the meantime, the Sector Commander FRSC Mr Sunday Ajayi has warned motorists to apply caution in d area and obey trafick order to divert their vehicles through Nkpor New Parts and other alternative routes to lessen pressure on the bridge, adding that his men have been stationed to control trafick in the area.
On his part, the Chairman Idemili North council area Chief Obi Idemobi described the situation as the height of marginalisation of the South-East, adding that if the federal government had intervened two months ago when erosion only threatened the service lane, the devastation on the flyover would not have affected the carriage lane.
He urged the federal government to live up to their expectation as the situation at Nkpor pose a very big challenge to Local, state and federal governments.
Odenigbo FM reports that the service lane of Nkpor flyover has completely been cut-off by erosion affecting totally the first carriage lane of vehicles coming from Enugu to Onitsha.
Meanwhile, the carriage lane has been blocked to avoid any casualty on the flyover.
