The group in a two-page strong worded communiqué signed by its National Chairman, Hon. Nduka Alor and his secretary, Benedrine Agbata also warned the former governor, Mr Peter Obi and his aides to stop distracting his successor, Obiano to enable him continue to deliver on the mandate given to him by the people.
While passing vote of confidence on Governor Obiano, the group stated that the governor has achieved a lot in less than 20 months in office, a legacy, they said will remain unbeaten in the annals of Anambra state.
The communiqué reads in part: “We are disturbed that some persons who steered the sheep of this state for eight years without any opposition or rancour from any quarter are now witch hunting their successor.
“We also recall with regret, that from 1999 to 2003, the then Anambra governor, Dr. Chinweroke Mbadinuju saw hell in the hands of overzealous politicians, Mbadinuju’s successor, Dr. Chris Ngige also suffered the same fate but after that era, destructive opposition became a thing of the past in the State and that was why the former governor Peter Obi sailed through for eight years, uninterrupted and undisturbed.
“Our hearts bleed that today; he is involved in creating confusion and chaos in the state. We hereby state categorically that we will resist any attempt to reintroduce the era of brigandage in Anambra state and urge him to allow his successor concentrate in the task of building a new Anambra.
“Governor Obiano has achieved a lot in less than two years to deserve second term. He has proved to us that he is people-oriented and a listening governor by being consistent in paying workers salaries and improving agriculture as one of his four wheels of development.
“The Agricultural investments will ensure enough food and employment for Ndi Anambra and the trade and commerce sector has got a boost and is in full gear to earn revenue and attract investors for the State. That is why we are not feeling the drop in revenue of Nigeria so much here. Some States are owing arrears of salaries but here in Anambra, our Governor is increasing salaries.
“As if that is not enough, he is making Awka a befitting state capital which some people neglected and abandoned for eight years, and in terms of security, he has sent criminals and kidnappers packing and as well, flagged off construction of many roads in the state within this short period of time. Willie is really working and we must rally support for him”
