Okorocha, Ambode, Ikpeazu: put nation above ethnic, religious sentiments



Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and their Abia State counterpart, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, have enjoined Nigerians to put the unity of the country above ethnic, political and religious sentiments.
The Imo governor appealed to ethnic and separatist groups to jettison all quest for sovereignty and come together to build a progressive and united nation.
Okorocha, in his goodwill massage to Nigerians by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, noted that “for Nigeria to have remained one indivisible nation for 55 years despite the challenges that have been confronting it as a multi-ethnic nation does not only deserves to be celebrated but also calls for thanksgiving to God Almighty”.

Anambra state Governor, Chief Wiilie Obiano has enjoined Nigerians to reflect soberly at the country’s 55 years of nationhood.

Obiano in an address to mark Nigeria’s 55 years of Independence in Awka today said the sober reflection became necessary given that at independence, the country’s founding fathers dreamt of a country whose greatness would finally announce to the free world the rise of a super power in black Africa.

Clergy Sues For Sincere Fight Against Corruption & Call For Stable Power Supply

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinous Eze Okafor has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prioritize  the  fixing  of the national power supply and adopt sincere onslaught against corruption as the  ban of any meaning economic development.

He stated this at a media briefing to mark this year Nigeria 55^th independence anniversary, said nation development would not be complete without adequate power supply and virile political will to fight corruption.

ARMY DENIES ACCUSING BORNO ELDERS OF SPONSORING BOKO HARAM

                              
 The Nigerian Army has clarified that it did not accuse Borno Elders of sponsoring Boko Haram but rather some indigenes of the state of planning to prolong the group led terrorism in the North East.
The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, who made this clarification yesterday, disclosed that they did not refer to the elders in their statement.
Usman said that “the attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to observations and concerns by well meaning Nigerians especially the Borno Elders Leaders of Thought (BELT) about the misinterpretation of the warning.”

BUHARI STOPS SPECIAL ALLOWANCE FOR VILLA GUARDS

                                  
 President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the stoppage of special allowance for security personnel in the Presidential Villa, investigations by The Punch have revealed.
Before now, all security personnel posted to the Villa were being paid what is known as Risk and Hazard Allowance.
However, since his assumption of office, President Buhari was said to have refused to pay the money to them.
During the last regime, our correspondents gathered that senior security officers covering the Villa were said to have been collecting between N75,000 and N50,000 while their junior ones received between N30,000 and N25,000 on a monthly basis.

The people of Taraba State are in deep shock following the demise of one of the First Class chiefs in the state, the Kpanti Zing His Royal Highness, Muhammad Samba Abbas who died with two of his wives in the hajj tragedy in Mina, Saudi Arabia, which claimed hundreds of pilgrims from different nations.
Two Appeal Court justices, one of whom was the brother of former INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, Justice Abubakar Abdulkadir Jega, were confirmed dead by Nigerian judicial authorities at the weekend.
Jega was the presiding justice of Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
His remains had been reportedly identified at the mortuary in Saudi Arabia as one the five missing pilgrims from Kebbi State.
