APC NWC set to Decide On Anambra Central Inconclusive Primary Result

The All Progressives Congress has said it would await the completion of its senatorial primary election for Anambra Central, in an apparent rejection of a report by its panel recommending the disqualification of a former House of Representatives member, Uche Ekwunife, from contesting for the seat, on an APC ticket.
The report by a screening committee, headed by Osita Okechukwu, had recommended the denial of the party’s ticket to Ms. Ekwunife, calling her a “fair weather hen” who changed political parties at will.

Ms. Ekwunife is a former member of at least four political parties. Her election as a senator, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, was annulled by the courts, prompting a rerun.
Ahead of the fresh polls, she defected to the ruling APC.
The screening committee of the party selected Sharon Ikeazor, a former interim woman leader of the party, as its candidate in the election.

But in a statement Thursday night, the APC national secretary, Bala Buni, said it would allow its primary election for the Anambra seat to be concluded.
“The All Progressives Congress warns against the declaration of any result from the Anambra Central Senatorial primary election conducted by the party,” Mr. Buni said.
“Senator Domingo Obende who was duly appointed by the party to conduct the primaries is yet to declare a final result, hence any other result announced from any quarter is null and void.
“The media and general public is advised to await completion of the exercise,” he added.
It would be recalled that the National delegation of the APC, conducted a well represented primary in Awka, that saw Senator Uche Ekwunife leading her opponent, Barister Sharon Ikeazor by 284 to 35 votes, only to stop the exercise in the middle of the game noticing that the former, who they had allegedly plotted to defeat has now turned to be the people's choice.
The Panel, failed to complete the exercise and according to the delegates position came to carry out what some people asked them to do but the reverse was now the case.

Information reaching Ashiwaju.org revealed that the National Working Committee of the APC converge an emergency meeting at the weekend to decide on who flys the parties flag to win the Anambra central rerun election come March 2016.
Tension have risen in Anambra state, where impression of having a new person to fly APC candidature in a highly political informed senatorial district would be a suicide mission and a postmortem of APC existence in the state against 2017 governorship election.
