The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Italy Chapter has boosted the Empowerment programmes of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFΓ), the NGO of the wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano with a donation of ten sewing machines.
The eight-man APGA Italy delegation presented the manual and electrical sewing machines to CAFE recently at the office of the wife of the governor in Awka, Anambra State.
Presenting the sewing machines, leader of the delegation and Chairman of APGA Italy Chapter, Ogbuefi Raphael Obadiegwu said that their mission was in recognition of the selfless work of the wife of the governor who has been empowering many indigent women and widows in Anambra as well as the less privileged ones.
According to Ogbuefi Obadiegwu, “we came to support Chief (Mrs.) Obiano for what she is doing through CAFΓ, and also demonstrate our solidarity and support for the administration of our “working Governor ” Chief Willie Obiano who is transforming Anambra for the good of all.”
Ogbuefi Obadiegwu stated that although they were resident abroad, they follow with keen interest the activities of the government and the programmes of CAFΓ for the less privileged and have very good reason to be proud of what they heard and had seen on ground in Anambra State when they returned home for the Christmas holiday.
The Chairman of APGA Italy also assured of the continuous support of the party members in Italy for the programmes of the government at home and other initiatives like that of the governor’s wife which are aimed at improving the lot of Ndi Anambra. He also requested Mrs. Obiano to visit them in Italy or any other chapter of APGA abroad at her convenience.
Receiving the sewing machines on behalf of the wife of the governor, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media, Mr. Emeka Ozumba, thanked APGA Italy members for their kind gesture and for finding time to make the trip home just to come and support the good works of the wife of the governor, and also show solidarity and due recognition for the giant strides of the administration of the governor Chief Willie Obiano barely two years in the office.
Mr. Ozumba told the group that the donation was a good indication that people recognise and acknowledge the commitment of Chief (Mrs.) Obiano towards the welfare of indigent women, widows and the less privileged, as well as the empowerment of many others in various trades. He equally assured that the sewing machines would be helpful in line with the plans of the wife of the governor to equip the next group of the skills acquisition graduates in tailoring, and called on others to emulate their gesture instead of dwelling on the promotion of false and negative reports.
In his Vote of thanks, Publicity Secretary, Mr. Oliver Asiegbu thanked the wife of the governor for the reception accorded the APGA Italy delegation and assured that they would take the good news of the new developments in Anambra State back to their base for the enlightenment of other members of their chapter.
