He said the appeal court judgment was explicit in the conduct of political parties primaries for the rerun and noted that the choice of party nomination and conducting fresh primaries was flawless in the judgment.
Ike-Oye disclosed this Friday, in Awka, stressed the need for participating political parties to adhere strictly to the court provision in the process of participating in the fresh rerun election.
He cited the position of the Supreme Court judgement on the matter between Labour Party and INEC IN 2003 General Elections: “I want to reaffirm the position of our party that there will be no new primary in connection with Anambra central senatorial re-run”.
“According to supreme court judgment in LABOUR VS INEC in 2003, the supreme court ruled that in event of cancellation or nullification of an election on the ground of disqualification, that only the candidates that participated in the previous election that was annulled , excluding the candidate who was disqualified should participate in the re-run”.
“An that no political party whatsoever has the power to conduct a new primary with the intention of nominating a new candidate because the time for doing that has elapsed, anything in contrary will not accepted by APGA, and made this position explicitly clear at the meeting we held with the National chairman of INEC in Abuja two days ago, that APGA will never accept anything in the contrary and we are determined to do everything possible to restore normalcy , orderliness and dignity back to Anambra politics”.
Speaking further: “The time for politics of greed, avarice, politics of brother does not know brother; sister does not know sister has passed in ANmbara state”.
“With the enthronement of the new democracy we today enjoy, Anambra sate is positioned to take the lead in Nigeria politic life, by 2019, looking at what the Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano has done, APGA will be better positioned, with the Abia victory in waiting, APGA will be strongly positioned to compete with APC in 2019, by 2019 , PDP funeral would have been held”.
