Ekwunife Approaches Supreme Court For Appeal Court Judgement Review


Information has it the the embattled senator  of Anambra Central, Senator Uche Ekwunife has petitioned the Supreme Court to review the December 7th Appeal Court sitting in Enugu judgement, which ousted her as the Senator for Anambra Central district on the ground of improper party nomination.

Senator Uche Ekwunife had earlier approached the appeal court with a motion of not satisfy with the judgement on ground that according her counsel "falls below judicial standard and its sena-qua non to money induced judgement as it may be refereed, a Jankara sort of judgement that reduces people's confidence in the judiciary".
She hereby approached the apex court  with a leave  filed to appeal  the Enugu court of Appeal judgement on the motion on notice, which  was granted and expressed hope that the appeal would restore her denied mandate.
Senator Ekwunife is hopeful that the case will come in are favour, relating it with the recent Supreme Court judgement that upturned the said APC declared victory in Taraba and Rivers state by the appeal courts, expressed confidence in the apex court to restore justice back to her.
Though, the Electoral Act 2010 as Amended gives final power of state and National Assembly matters to the appeal court but matter of review of judgement is alien to the electoral document.
Supreme Court had struct out a motion brought by the All Progressive Congress APC, Anambra state to substitute the name of the serving Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige with another person, Mrs. Sharion Ikeazor to run for the Anambra Central Senatorial rerun election of March 5th, 2016.

Ashiwaju.org gathered that former Governor Peter Obi might fly the PDP ticket to contest the election, though it has less that eight days, hoping if the Supreme Court case does not move in Ekwnunife's favour, he might run under PDP for the rerun election.
