The All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central Postponed Re-run election, Chief Victor has been arrested by men of the Department of State Security Service DSS in Enugu and whisked to Abuja for questioning.
Chief Umeh, who was the immediate past National Chairman of APGA was reported to have been arrested at about 9am Thursday, at his Enugu residence, later whisked to Abuja for interrogations.
Details of his arrest is yet to be made public as at the time of filling this report but top functionaries of APGA is Anambra disclosed that his arrest could not be distanced from the overwhelming support he is enjoying in the course of the campaign and said "some politicians might not be conformable with his rising political profile against the interest of the opposing political parties in the state".
Speaking with some members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Awka, Anambra state capital, they resolved that the arrest of Chief Victor Umeh could not be distanced from what they regarded as 'semblance of political witch-hunt".
They said though they have not been briefed on the information that lead to his arrest but the party was confident that the opposing political party are afraid of the love he received from the people which according to them might necessitate the arrest of Chief Victor Umeh.
Effort by ashiwaju.org to speak with top APGA chieftains in Anambra was proved abortive, while many decline comments waiting for the DSS report to be made public before making any comment..
Many wonder why a man loved by many, whose political pedigree would pave way for a true reflection of a patriotic leader, whose desire and struggle, has been to fashion out programmes geared towards ensuring the unity of Nigeria is sustained.
