Anambra State Deputy Governor Loses Father—Nwachukwu Okeke at 89 …Enugwu-Ukwu Monarch, Cabinet, Others Mourn

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke has lost his father, Chief Sir Engr Richard Nwachukwu Okeke at age of 88 (December 10, 1927—Sunday, 10, 2016).
Chief Okeke, who died 18 days to his 65 years marriage anniversary (having married on April 28 1951), was until his death, the President General, Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu-Ukwu (1987 to 2005); retired as a Director (Distribution West—1976 to 1977) National Electric Power Authority (NEPA); founder and Chairman, RENACS Nigeria LTD, a renowned electrical construction company; excluding other numerous political, professional and religious offices held.


Also, in recognition of his contributions to his town, Enugwu-Ukwu, he was given a Chieftaincy title of Ezue of Enugwu-Ukwu in 1973 by HRH Igwe Osita Agwuna, the Late Igwe of Umunri and Eze Enugwu-Ukwu; and was admitted into the Highest Ozo title (Ozo Nkpu) in Enugwu-Ukwu in 1987.
Chief Okeke was survived by his wife, Chief Nwakaego Dorothy Okeke; seven children—four girls and three boys, including the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, twenty grandchildren and one great grand children.
Announcing his demise on Wednesday, the Monarch of Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, HRH Igwe Ralph. Ekpe, Igwe of Umunri and Eze Enugwu-Ukwu and his cabinet members stressed that Chief Okeke died since Sunday but they chose to make it public three days later in accordance to their culture.
According to Igwe Ekpe, everything regarding the burial of the icon would be made public in due time.
Ekpe, while praying to God to grant the departed illustrious son of the town eternal rest in His bosom, consoled the bereaved, urging them to dry their tears as their father lived a worthy life.
Responding on behalf of the family, the deceased second son, Emeka Okeke, who doubles as third child of the family, thanked his mother, Chief Dorothy Okeke for standing for their departed father while alive, even as he prayed God to help them to fill the vacuum he left behind
