Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade, led other top entertainers to thrill guests at the 60th birthday celebration of former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, which took place last weekend at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
KSA, as the legendary musician is fondly called, mounted the stage midway into the well-attended ceremony after guests had been treated to melodious tunes from young artistes such as Beejay Sax and a host of others.
Paying homage to the host and other top dignitaries present at the occasion as he climbed the podium, the 69-year-old musician got the entire hall turbo-charged with his electrifying dance steps and mastery delivery of some of his evergreen songs to the excitement of the ecstatic crowd.
The event, which was made more colourful by the giant-sized portraits of OGD, placed at strategic corners of the large hall and the complementing presence of gaily dressed men and women sporting bright smiles, began with worship and thanksgiving service presided over by respected Christian leaders like Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church World Wide. The second part of the ceremony which began at about 5:00pm included a book launch on the life and remarkable strides of the former Ogun State helmsman. Guests were thereafter treated to a feast.
Notable traditional rulers who graced the occasion include, the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Adeniyi Sonariwo, and the Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Gabriel Aromolaran.
Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, led the list of politicians at the event like the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Yetunde Onanuga, former Governors of Oyo and Kano states, Alao Akala and Ibrahim Shekarau.
A former Head of Interim National Government, Ernest Shonekan, was also present at the occasion. They all paid tribute to Gbenga Daniel whom they described as a visionary leader
