It was an empathy sight at St Mary's Anglican Church Ukpo when Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder visited the church for her flag off event of World sickle cell Day.

The thanksgiving which has become a necessary of evangelism for the association, created an opportunity for them to address the parishioners who aptly listened to the Association's coordinator, Aisha Edwards as she addressed the congregation on the importance of knowing their Genotype especially before marriage so as to avert the chances of procreating sickle Cell children.

She thanked the church for their hospitality, kindness and generosity, which they accord the Association each time they visit, according to her the association has received enormous hospitality from the church especially in aiding her sensitisation campaigns. Also noting that over 100 members of her association come from the Dunukofia Local Government Area, and all these has prompted the Association to flag off her first sickle Cell Clinic in the Ukpo community during her World Sickle Cell Day Celebration on 18th and 19th of June 2016. Aisha Edward used the medium to thank Gov. Willie Obiano for his kind donation that Aided the members of the Association with some of the Empowerment packages particularly to those of them from Ukpo, She urged the congregation to continue to remember him in a special prayers so that more good thing will continue to come before the United nation World Sickle Cell Day coming up on 19th of June 2016 at UNIZIK. My Tribute will also go To Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano  the only woman Who wished us good luck at the beginning of our journey through our Thanksgiving and sensitization campaign. We indeed Adore her motherly care and will celebrate those good virtues of our Well meaning donors in good time, she posited.

However, reacting to the message of the Association, Business Mogul and Philanthropist Chief Arthur Eze who was present at the service commended the Association for her efforts in campaigning against the disorder despite their Challenges so far, a campaign he said is yielding fruits and speaking volumes across the country. He promised to aid the Association in her campaign and would make her sickle Cell Day Celebration worthwhile.

He further stressed on the need for Government to come the aid of such like Associations, as their cause is one that borders seriously on life and shouldn't be neglected.

Highlights of the Sunday event was the sharing of Cooked meal to the congregation, and this was sponsored by Chief Arthur Eze, who felt it was a necessary step that would stop people from leaving church before the end of service with excuse of going to eat, he promised that it would continue on subsequent Sundays.

It was indeed a sight to behold, as the Philanthropist was seen sharing the food himself, he folded his sleeves and joined those sharing the food to make sure it went around all present.
