                                                                By: Augustus Bill
The publication of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, FIDES, has officially entered into partnership with the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, for the purpose of media coverage and publicity for the 2016 Celebration of world Sickle Cell Day that would be coming up on June 19th.

In a meeting with the board of the publication, FIDES accepted to aid and promote the messages of APLSCD throughout the period of their campaigns till the celebration on June 19th

The Association calls on all and sundry to render their support through FIDES Publications, as such support would reach the Association.

The Coordinator of APLSCD, Aisha Edwards made this known to press while flagging off the media campaign for World Sickle Cell Day in Awka this morning. Speaking to the Press, Aisha expressed hope that this year's celebration would be nothing but the best, as Anambra State shall play host to sickle Cell victims from various states, including, Enugu, Adamawa, Kano and Rivers.

She urged well meaning individuals and corporate bodies to support the Association in her goals to achieving a successful world Sickle Cell Day on June 19th, through their donations, Goodwill messages, sponsorships, placements of Adverts and free medical Services prior to the Grand Event.

In a recent development, Aisha thanked All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools ANCOPSS for choosing Anambra State for their 59th Annual Conference. According to her,The  August meeting couldn't have come at a better time other than now that an intense wake up call has been made to all bodies, Humanitarian and Life saving association, pressure groups, churches, and schools particularly Our esteemed ANCOPSS to see the need to preach about Genotypes and its impact in the society.

However, Aisha Congratulated the Anambra State Governor, Chief Wille Obiano  and ministry of Education for the Historic Hosting of the Great Conference at a time Nigeria needs all the intellectual and professional Synergies from our diverse ethnic and social cultural group to strengthen our unity. She advised that the principals should take a cue from what Anambra State Government has been doing in fulfilment of the Anambra State Sickle Cell law of 2002. She said that the STATE and Particularly The CHURCH has aided the sensitisation of the disorder, as the reduction of the  proliferation of sickle Cell can be abated with increased sensitisation through Education in  the primary , secondary schools and Tertiary Institutions, and this the Commissioner for Education, Prof, Kate Omenugha has aided through her office and will continue to do more in the future.

Aisha urged the principals to emulate the motherly care and love of wife of the Anambra State Governor, Chief EbeleChukwu Obiano who has aided the Genotype education by providing empowerment for members of the APLSCD.

She concluded that APLSCD would never relent as they would continue the evangelism on sickle Cell until everybody is aware of the implications and ways to avoid them.,Since "if the society is not informed it will be deformed" She quoted.
