Anambra NULGE Condemns Nassarawa Killings

The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees NULGE has called on government to desist from act unleashing security operatives on peaceful protest of any of their members in the country.
They condemned in the strong term the killing of two of their members, Aliyu Abdulahi Umubugadu a Master 1 of Nassarawa state Ministry of Education and Rabiu Mohammed Hamza , Assistant Executive Officer Nigeria Newsday, lafia  in Nassarawa state, over alleged protest of 50% slash of their salaries by the state government.

Addressing newsmen in, Awka, the state chairman of NULGE, Jerry Nubia lamented the unlawful killing of workers protesting against illicit reduction of their pay in the face of tight economic down turned.
Stating that the approved minimum wage of the country’s salary structure is not sufficient to meet up with the people's family demands,, against the proposed salary reduction by the Nassarawa  state government
Scores of Local Government Employee workers of Anambra state thronged Awka, Anamra state capital to protest  the ill-fated killings of two  of the colleagues in Nassarawa state.
Nubia, who doubled as the state chairman of the NLC , lamented that government would employ security operatives on innocent workers, whose rights are unduly  infringed upon, adding that such inhuman demeanour should be discouraged in a democratic dispensation.

It would be recalled that the Nassarawa state local government workers,had on 29th of july embarked on a peaceful protest to the government house  against  proposed 50% slash in their salary before the duo was killed in the protest.
