The residents recalled that the duo was last seen at the wee hour of the penultimate Saturday night before the unfortunate incident happened.
Narrating the incident to newsmen at the village, Tagbo Oyiora and Obi Jacob disclosed that the neighborhood were alerted following the outcry of the deceased niece whose howl alerted the villagers and vigilante guarding the community before they later invited the security operatives to the scene to evacuate the corpses.
They both attributed the course of the death of the duo to the fume of a generator set which they used to power the apartment over the night, owing to the report gotten from the niece of the deceased.
Tagbo further disclosed that duo have been using the uncompleted apartment anytime the male deceased return from Lagos, while the female deceased used their as her abode with her male counterpart.
Confirming the deaths, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, Nkiruka Nwode denied the claims that one of the deceased by name Chidiebere Nwangwu was a police officer, she said the report gotten from the family revealed that the deceased was a contractor handling the building project for his uncle who also resides in Lagos.
She stressed that the bodies have deposited in the mogul awaiting an autopsy report to ascertain the course of their death.
When, contacted, the Commandant of NSCDC in Anambra, Mr Godwin Omoregie denied comment on the incident.
