ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND WARNS FULANI HERDSMEN AGAINST BEARING ARMS WHILE ON PASTORAL DUTY

The Anambra state commissioner of police, Sam Olaula has warned Fulani residents in the state not to shield criminals among them in the bid to sustain the peaceful co-existence between them and their host community.
He charged them to expose anyone found wanting in the move to breach law and order in the state, says police would not hesitate to arrest any Fulani herdsman found bearing ammunition in the course of their postural duty.

Okaula gave the charge at the police command headquarters Amawbia, Anambra state, stressed the need for the herdsmen to desist from act capable of breaching the peace with their host community, he assured that the command would not spare any resident who act otherwise.
The move to maintain peaceful coexistence between Fulani herdsmen and their host community is receiving commendation between the duo as Anambra state police command has insisted on providing enhance sensitization and communication network between them as a veritable tool to achieving sustainable peace in the state.
Some of the moves have recorded profound peaceful resolution and compensation paid to both parties in different fora, supervised by the state security team headed by the state commissioner of police, the Fulani  herdsmen and their different host communities.
Addressing the Fulani delegation, at the police command Amawbia, commissioner Okaula warned them to expose any of their members culpable of fomenting trouble with their host community, said the police would not hesitate to arrest any Fulani herdsman  bearing arms in the course of discharging their pastoral  duty.
He charged them to expose anyone found wanting and assured them of the police commitment to protect their interest if they carry out their duty in a lawful manner without destroying people's crops or farmlands.
Responding, the leader of the delegation Gidado Sikiku extolled the state government and the security team for their immerse effort to ensure peace is maintained in the state.
He described the idea put forward by the state government as laudable and solicits for cooperation among his people and their host communities.
Before the rising wave of herdsmen attacks in the south eastern part of Nigeria, Anambra state government had instituted a committee comprising of the Security agencies headed by the state commissioner of police, the Fulani representatives and representative of the affected host communities, compensations  have been awarded and disputes have been resolved without leading to chaos.
