Igbo Leader commends Buhari over South East Roads

Commendations are coming to the federal government for intervening on the rehabilitate of Enugu=Onitsha Expressway to relief  tension been experienced by motorists and commuters plying the major roads in the south east of Nigeria.
Report has it that the process to give the highway a new look commenced at a recent meeting between the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and the Governor of Anambra State,  Wilie Obiano in Awka, the state capital.

Speaking on the development, an All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, Victor Umeh commends President Muhammadu Buhari’s initiative to embark of the reconstruction of the road and urged the government to  extend same to Enugu-Onitsha express road from Anambra Axis and the Okigwe-Port Harcourt road respectively.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after he was decorated with a chieftaincy title by the traditional ruler of Amansea kingdom, HRH, Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo, the immediate past National Chairman of the APGA, Victor Umeh laments the neglect south east zone had suffered under previous administration, said Ndigbo would remain grateful if President Muhammadu Buhari could endavour to complete most of their road projects.
He said though Ndigbo had been isolated from assessing imminent national developmental infrastruture, but extolled the president for demystifying the dynamics that placed his people at dis-advantaged postion, said his people would remain grateful to the present administration for intervene on the deplorable state of the south east roads.
He alleged that People Democratic Party PDP had abandoned the zone for the lent of their stay in power from 1999-2015, assured of the people’s support for the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, if major signature projects that have been abandoned by successive admirations in the country and carried out for the development the people of the zone.
He said further that same gesture should be extended to other sectors of the economy where they have recorded a gap in appointment and infrastructure development , which he solicits should receive federal attention to enable the people of the zone be at par with people of other zones in the country .
Correspondent reports that sequel to the meeting between the Anambra state governor Willie Obiano and the Nigerian Minister of Roads, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola few months back  where the minister  expressed concerns over the deplorable state of the road projects in the zone, gave birth to the speedy intervention by the federal government to fix the affected portion of some major highways in the south eastern part of Nigeria.
