Igwe Achebe made the call at his palace in Onithsa, on occasion to mark his 15th Ofala festival, called for collective zeal of the country to restore the nation economy.
The monarch, who noted that things went wrong because of the collective decisions made by the previous administrations, urged Buhari to consider the advice of many Nigerians on the way out of the current economic quagmire
Many Nigerians including Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Cardinal Francis Arinze, have challenged Nigerians to join hands with the present administration in the struggle to rescue the nations dying economy from been collapse.
They charged President Muhammadu Buhari to consider the collective views of Nigerians in addressing the current economic recession, adding that he should engage persons from all the political zones to make contributions as the framework that would rescue the nation’s economy.
Obi of Onitsha in his remark, urged the President Buhari to ensure he put up economic enhancement programme that would diversify the nation economy as well as considering the sincere calls to restructure Nigeria as one of the options that would restore the nation’s economy to an enviable height.
He urged the president to also look into the cattle herdsmen harassing citizens across the country.
In a remark, Gov. Willie Obiano commended the custom of Onitsha and urged the people of the area to support the monarch's leadership wisdom.
He revealed that his administration has reduced some taxes levied on wheelbarrow pushers, petty traders, tricycle operators and motorcycle riders to ameliorate the effect of the current recession
Commending the monarch for his sterling leadership prowess, participants extolled the king and called for an advance programmes that would improve the commercial essence of Onitsha to become the valid commercial nerve centre in Africa.
They urged Nigerians to eschew ethnic bigotry, stating that Nigerians should cohabit freely anywhere they find themselves without fear of secessionism.
