Some Anambra state civil servants have called on the government to effect promotional entitlement and salary increase as mechanism to arrest the current economy hardship in the country, Nigeria.
They lamented that some of their colleagues who are due for promotion years before now have not been considered while issues of sectional employment is recommended to be disregarded.
They condemned the idea of selective employment quota that favour a section of the state leaving others section at the mercy of what comes next.

Speaking with our correspondent in Awka shortly after this year civil service annual programme tagged: 2016 African Public Service Day celebration in Awka. They urged the governor, Willie Obiano to ensure adequate consideration is given to youths of all the 21 local government for employment.
Civil service force has been regarded as an offshoot of colonial government, the engine room of any political administration.
This year civil service annual cerebration was greeted with mix reaction and demands from civil servant to the state governor over yet to be implemented salary structure for newly promoted workers and delay in the release of workers promotion and many more.
They demand for a holistic approach to employment that would favour more youths, equitably represented from the 177 community in the state as well providing conducive working environment that encourages workers upgrade in service.
Though they did not mix their words to extol the state government having map out programme to rescue the state from the global recession, they eulogise the governors’ programme towards improving living standard of the state civil servants but urge him to do more.

On his part, the Anambra state Governor, Wille Obiano regretted that though the implementation of the workers promotion wages was not captured in the current budget but promised to include it in subsequent budget.
The governor, who was received with overwhelming welcome by his workers, put smile on their faces by disclosing that his administration has relapsed some taxes to cushion the effect of the economy recession and make family have enough money within to sustain themselves.
The governor however promised to consider the implementation of the new minimum wage and look into issues of promotion, provision of low cost housing for workers and cancellation of all contract appointments among others.
