OBA COMMUNITY GETS CARE TAKER COMMITTEE FOR OPU, YOUTH WING

State government has inaugurated Care Taker Committee for the Youth Wing of Oba Patriotic Union
This is part of State government's commitment to promote Communal peace in the State.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Oba Town Hall, Oba, Idemili South Council Area.
For the first time in years, the Youth wing of the Community now have executive members led by its Chairman, Mr Ogonna Okafor, who were given the task of piloting their affairs including organizing an election within the next six months.
The ceremony was performed under the watchful eyes of the Cabinet members of the Traditional Ruler of Oba and a Joint Security Task force, led by the Nigeria Army, as well as youths and elders of Oba Community.

Performing the function, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Engineer Tony Uche Ezekwelu, said that Governor Willie Obaino's interest in peace, being the reason for his support to the Community, lays credence to Community's pride of place in the affairs of the State.

Engineer Ezekwelu enjoined them to avail themselves the opportunities offered by different empowerment programs of the present administration, stressing that State government has proscribed the existence of any group that is not under the Town Union.

While stressing that they are under the parent body which is Oba Patriotic Union, he charged the Youths to work for the collective good of Oba Community above selfish interests.

In a remark, the President General of Oba, Chief Ifeatu Uzowulu, expressed appreciation to God that the inauguration day finally came to fruition after many processes of dedicated efforts and called on those who are in the habit of fanning the embers of troubles in the Community, either by selling lands that don't belong to them, or playing other pranks that destabilize the Community, to desist and embrace peace.

Chief Uzowulu who expressed joy that posterity will remember them for the feat, thanked the Governor for listening to their plea of having a youth wing as well as those that were instrumental to the process of deliberations, after many major crises.

Members of the Joint Security Task Force from the Nigeria Army, the police, DSS and the Vigilante spoke to the youth on the need for sustained peace, as they will not hesitate to arrest trouble shooters.

The Traditional Ruler of Oba, Igwe      Peter Ezenwa who earlier received the team at his palace, appreciated Governor Obiano for coming to their aid, saying that the gesture will entrench lasting peace in his Community.

Also present at the event were the former Transition Chairman of Idemili South Council Area, Prince Henry Ezenwa, Special Assistants to the Governor on Political Matters, and Student Matters, Honorable Chito Ohazulike, and Honorable Innocent Nduanya, Special Assistant to the Governor on Economic Planning, among others.

Signing and presentation of the Bye Laws to the Youth, formed the highpoint of the event.
