University Don Calls For Construction Of Film Village in South East, Nigeria

The Vice Chancellor of the Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Professor Joseph Okafor has called on government of all tiers to see to the actualization of a film village for the south east, been a project that will serve as one of the instruments to be use to preserve Igbo cultural heritage.
He said though the project is long overdue but urged government and private individuals to  mop-up resources to see to the realization of the project.

NFF throws Eagles job open

The Nigeria Football Federation has thrown open the Super Eagles coaching job contrary to the earlier decision to limit the opportunity to expatriates. The change of direction was made late on Wednesday when the Technical and Development Committee of the FA met at the NFF secretariat in Abuja.
The NFF president Amaju Pinnick first gave the hint of limiting the search for a new coach to Europe in a forum held at the Harvard University soon after Sunday Oliseh left his position as Nigeria coach. The NFF board stated the same position when they met with the sports minister Solomon Dalung last month. Wednesday’s meeting was seen as one to tie up their defence on sticking strictly to a European coach but they announced a change of policy instead.

Buhari returns budget, meets Saraki, Dogara on Friday

Kaduna seeks death sentence for 50 Shi’ites

The Kaduna State government on Thursday asked a Kaduna high court to sentence 50 Shiite members to death for allegedly causing the death of a soldier.
The state government had filed a five-count charge against the accused before Justice David Wyom.
According to The Cable online newspaper, the state government accused them of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, culpable homicide, disturbance of public peace and wrongful restrain.
In the petition, Bayero Diri, counsel for the government, said the offences were punishable under Sections 97, 221, 102, 106 and 225 of the penal code law, laws of Kaduna state 1991.

N2.5bn fraud: EFCC arrests Jonathan’s campaign director, Nenadi Usman


THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Director of Finance of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman, for allegedly receiving N2.5bn from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
A top official of the EFCC, who confided in The PUNCH, said the former minister was arrested on Thursday in Abuja.
All funds that came from the Presidency during the campaign were believed to have come through Usman.

Fake Ambodes attempt withdrawing N50m from LASG account


Two artisans – Rilwanu Jamiu and Balogun Oyewole – have been nabbed for allegedly cloning the  mobile line of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and attempting to withdraw N50m from the state government’s account.
It was gathered that the suspects, who claimed to be cocoa dealers, allegedly attempted to perfect a N50m transfer through the mobile line of the governor, which they had cloned.

An officer of the Department of State Services, Mr. Peter Okerinmodun, said, “The duo used the cloned mobile line of the governor to send a text message to the Accountant General of the state requesting a transfer of N50m.”
