Sickle  cell anemia the grim reaper and life terminator on its victims has been a strange bed fellow in the lives of innocent child by share ignorance of parents and in some cases from stupid love romance(s) that shoots out the tummy and subsequent child birth. This scourge as deadly as it is, is yet to be expunged nor eliminated even in this 21st century. Good enough it is gratifying to note that some breakthroughs has been made in finding a cure  to the disease; vis- the bone marrow and the stem cells transplant, coupled with some preventive palliative  drugs to cushion up.

With relative ease, more Nigerian adults and families, including the urban dwellers, can now start up fish farms in order to earn alternative income from the highly lucrative business of fish farming.
Thanks to the partnership between the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) and Benuwatts Company Limited to promote modern fish farming through an innovative system that uses mobile fish ponds made from reinforced tarpaulin – instead of concrete structures that have been generally expensive and less efficient.
This was disclosed at the NIPOST Territorial Headquarters in Awka during a courtesy visit on the NIPOST Management led by the Regional Sales Representative of Benuwatts, Ms. Uche Igboanugo.

Buhari’s one year ‘a colossal waste’ — Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the increment in the pump price of petrol as one of the gifts of President Muhammadu Buhari to Nigerians to celebrate his one year in office, describing the president’s one year in office as “a colossal waste”.
In a statement titled; “Petrol Price Increment as Buhari’s 1st Year Anniversary Gift to Nigerians” which he personally signed, the governor said the Federal Government was indirectly collecting N58.50 naira tax from suffering Nigerians on each litre of petrol they buy.”
The statement reads; “Despite his electoral promise to reduce petrol pump price from the N87 per litre that he met it, President Muhammadu Buhari increased the price to N145! With this increment, Buhari has further impoverished Nigerians.

Edo Govt withdraws letter approving new Oba of Benin


The Edo State Government has withdrawn a letter earlier issued on the Oba of Benin, saying it was issued in error.

Court rejects Metuh’s request to travel abroad for treatment

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday dismissed an application by the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Olisa Metuh, asking for the release of his passport to enable travel to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
Justice Okon Abang in rejecting the request in a ruling, held that the court lacked jurisdiction to order the release of Metuh’s passport having earlier directed that it should be deposited with the Chief Registrar of the Court throughout the period of the PDP spokesperson’s ongoing trial.
“The law is settled and required no restatement that when a court has made an order, the court lacks jurisdiction to set aside the order or vary the order,” Justice Abang ruled.

Looters block effort to recover £300m Abacha’s loot –FG


An attempt by the Federal Government to repatriate £300m stolen funds from the State of Jersey (an autonomous British territory) has suffered a setback, says the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama.
Onyeama said this in Abuja on Tuesday during a press conference which was held to commemorate President Muhammadu Buhari’s one year in office.
The Bailiff of Jersey, Mr Micheal Birt, had said in 2014 that Jersey had repatriated, in two tranches £140m of the loot belonging to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, which was laundered on his behalf by Mr Raj Bhojwani, an Indian businessman.

Federal High Court Declares PDP Caretaker Committee Illegal

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Today ruled against formation of caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the People Democratic party operation pending the substantive elected official of the national Officers will assume office.
Delivering  his judgement, Justice Ibrahim Buba ruled that the caretaker committee imposed on the party by the PDP governors is illegal.

Arrest Warrant Issued For Ekitigate Plotter Iyiola Omisore

Nigeria Uncovers Fresh N2.23 Trillion Fraud In NNPC

The Nigeria oil and gas as well as the solid minerals sectors Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative NEITI audit report for 2013 has been published.
The Minister of Solid Minerals and Chairman of the NEITI Board, Kayode Fayemi, said the audit, which focused on all aspects of the extractive industries, showed that total revenue flows into the Federation Account from the oil and gas sector in 2013 was about $58.07 billion.
The figure represented about eight per cent decline when compared to the $62.9 billion realised in 2012.

In continuation of his looting spree, Delta State Commissioner for Basic Education, Chinedu Ebie, who we recently reported how he gave spoilt laptops to teachers, and later, compulsorily deducted N5,000 from the teachers that never collected his damaged laptops, has gone berserk again, with another round of looting.
