Police Confirm Ezinifite Lovers Death


The residents of Ezinifite Awka, in Awka south Local government area of Anambra are yet to recover from shock over the ill-fated death of two persons alleged to be in relationship who were found dead at the early hour of Sunday morning .
The residents recalled that the duo was last seen at the wee hour of the penultimate Saturday night before the unfortunate incident happened.

Police uncovers ammunition bank I. Agulu

The commissioner of police Anambra state, Sam Okaula has called on residents of the state to make public any suspected hideout for criminal activities & assured their identity would be of utmost confidentiality.
Addressing newsmen at Umuowelle community, Agulu, in Antiocha LGA, where storage of ammunitions were unearthed, worth millions of naira. 
He stressed the need for the people to provide police  with  genuine information to uncover hideouts of criminals whose stock in trade has been to course insecurity in the state.

NEMA INTENSIFY SENSITIZATION AGAINST POSSIBLE FLOODING IN ANAMBRA

The recent prediction of impending floods in different parts of the country by Nigeria Meteorological Agency NIMET and Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) has continued to engage the attention of relevant stakeholders especially after the 2012 flood disaster which left scores dead and thousands homeless in many parts of the country.
 Already, the rains have started; states are carrying out enlightenment campaigns among other measures to prepare their citizens ahead of possible disaster by providing them with early warning information to guard them against been taken unaware in event of uncertainty
Anambra state government in its zeal to tackle the situation has set up sensitization team with 28 internal displaced persons camps IDPs across the 10 local government areas which are prone to flooding as part of the preventive measures to checkmate possible damages in the course of the flooding.

Onitsha Residents Call For Desilting of Their Drains

Following predictions that many states in the country, including Anambra, would be affected by flood disaster this rainy season, residents of Onitsha community have called on the state government to help desilt their blocked gutters to ease free flow of water in the drains.
They lamented that major drainages in Onitsha are blocked due to the congested nature of the environment and called on the state government to come to their aid in making sure their drains are through for free flow of water.

TRADITIONAL RULERS SUE FOR DIVERSIFICATION OF NIGERIA ECONOMY AWAY FROM OIL

Council of traditional rulers in Anambra state has charged government to see diversification of the Nigeria economy from its mono-cultural produce, as the solution to sustainable socio-economic stability for the country.
They blame the poor state of the economy on neglect by successive administrations and over dependence on oil produce as the main stay of the country’s economy, leaving other sources untapped.
The monarchs made this resolution in a 10 point communiqué, made available to newsmen in Awka, which marked the end of 2016 Anambra state council of tradition rulers seminar tagged: Diversion of The Nigeria Economy, A sine Que Non For Sustainable socio-economic stability and growth.

Anambra places 19 persons on Lassa Fever Surveillance

The chief medical Director of Nnamdi Azikiwe University teaching hospital Nnewi, Professor Anthony Igwegbe says they have placed nineteen persons on surveillance in connection with the death of patient who died of lassa fever, on referral from a private hospital in Asaba, Delta state.
He revealed that the patient was diagnosed of lassa fever, few hours he was brought into the hospital but later died before treatment commenced.

ENUGU-ONITSHA EXPRESSWAY CALLS FOR URGENT GOVT. ATTENTION

The Enugu-Onitsha expressway has been regarded as the major road connecting the South East and South South , through the Niger Bridge, linking Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States, as well as the North, via Benue and Kogi States.
Over the years, this all-important road, home to heavy vehicular traffic, has been in a very deplorable state. How the Trunk-A highway went from bad to worse remain a puzzle to many road users.
Commuters exclaimed  that maintenance of the roads should be given the attention it deserves, owing to it all- important nature and being one of the major connecting roads that link both north and south axis of the country.

Police Arrest 23 over act of terrorism



Anambra state police command has arrested 23 youths for allegedly killing his personnel over disputed landed property in Dunukofia LGA, Anambra state .

The youths were alleged to have invaded a site where  construction of police station project was been carried out and destroyed the process bearing explosive devices to stall the exercise .

The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees NULGE has called on government to desist from act unleashing security operatives on peaceful protest of any of their members in the country.
They condemned in the strong term the killing of two of their members, Aliyu Abdulahi Umubugadu a Master 1 of Nassarawa state Ministry of Education and Rabiu Mohammed Hamza , Assistant Executive Officer Nigeria Newsday, lafia  in Nassarawa state, over alleged protest of 50% slash of their salaries by the state government.
