Anambra North People’s Assembly (ANPA), the apex socio cultural organisation for the people of Anambra North Senatorial District recently endorsed Governor Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano as their choice and sole candidate for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state. The endorsement was the hallmark of a well attended meeting which took place on Sunday the 26th day of February, 2017.
The Chairman of the organisation, Chief Emmanuel Achike from Ogbaru in his opening remark maintained that Anambra North is proud of their son Chief Willie M Obiano who currently is the Executive Governor of Anambra State. He confirmed that the Governor has excellent marks in all indices of governance in Anambra State.
In the same vein, the secretary of the association, Hon. Ossy Ilozue, a former local Government Council Chairman of Oyi eulogised the Governor for his developmental policies which clearly stands him out as a man with vision and mission to take Anambra State to the next level.
Chief Mike Okechukwu Areh in moving the motion for endorsement for a second term in office enthused the monumental achievements recorded so far by the Governor and government of Anambra State. He moved that Ndi Anambra North should give the Governor unalloyed support to go for a second term. The motion was seconded by the member representing Anambra East Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Pharm Obinna Emenaka.
It is worthy to note that the endorsement was done in the presence of all who is who from Anambra North and representatives from the seven Local Government Areas that made up Anambra North Senatorial District with some of the elected officers in Anambra North Senatorial District among whom is the member Representing Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Gabriel Onyenweife and all members of the State House of Assembly from the district. Also present was a former Senator, Chief Emma Anosike from Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Council.
It would be recalled that Anambra North Peoples Assembly had in their previous meeting constituted a Committee headed by a former Minister of Health, Dr Tim Menakaya with the mandate to dig deep and select a suitable candidate of Anambra North extraction from all the political parties with the capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state. After a thorough screening of all the contestants from Anambra North senatorial District, Governor Willie Obiano, was found the best option and worthy to pilot the affairs of Anambra in the next four years.
Other critical decisions geared at improving the lives and statues of Ndi Anambra North were discussed in the meeting and committees set up as the mission to developed Anambra North continues.
