ARCHBISHOP CHRISTIAN EFOBI CHAMPIONS SICKLE CELL ADVOCACY IN THE ANGLICAN COMMUNION PROVINCE AND DIOCESE.

BY. Augustus Bill
Archbishop Christian Efobi of the Aguata Anglican Diocese has called on other Bishops and clergies to champion the sensitization of Sickle Cell in their various dioceses, as the advocacy is the last resort for eradicating the scourge from the society.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Association of Persons Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, the Archbishop highlighted the importance of the awareness campaigns, and ways it could reduce the growing rate of production of sickle cell babies. He said that people should not only be made aware of the disorder, but the consequences and dire financial implications attached to it. Such knowledge, he believes would make them less ignorant of checking genotype before marriages.

Efobi has prayed philanthropists to continue with their good gestures  to the Association, and never to relent in the goodwill they have started, as it goes a long way in fostering strength for these persons who most times feel neglected by the society.

The Archbishop advised clergies and stakeholders in the church to see the advocacy and genetics education as a point of duty, and part of their vocation, and take it diligently so as to get optimum results.
