The group a coalition of media professionals stated this yesterday in a statement made available to the press.
The statement which was signed by Mazi Rex Ikegbunam slammed the rise in the blackmail antics of certain shadowy groups who think that they can stop a man who has what it takes to govern Anambra via their senseless vituperations.
"Recently, we have been alarmed or should we say saddened by the numerous dumb witted allegations made out on a number of social media outlets against the person and.vaunted integrity of Senator Andy Uba whose only offense is that he seeks to bring his wealth of experience to the benefit of our people.
These groups which are shadowy as they have no address have taken it upon themselves to seek attention with false stories and sickening demands.
Naturally, we ought to ignore these groups and their sponsor who we know is spending millions of Naira of the Paris Club refund on promoting such blackmail, however we believe that we shouldn't continue to keep quiet while the integrity of a good man will suffer, thus we decided to do a response once and for all to inform our people and Nigerians on this matter.
Take for example the fact that two Yoruba groups under the false aegis of
National Committee of Yoruba Youth (NCYY) and the Coalition of Civil Society Groups were alleged to have
called for the immediate arrest of the Senator Uba.
Investigations like we said have shown that these groups do not exist and the names are pseudonyms, fictitious at best, but what is even a confirmation of such folly is the fact that their sponsor is not even intelligent enough to use our own people for such blackmail but have sought to employ a Yoruba group of miscreants for such.
Is Senator Uba representing these people? Is it not a shame that rather than show Anambra a little reason on why our people should return them back to office, blackmail is been peddled?
Rather than challenge Senator Uba on the quality of bills or representation so far and the numerous lives touched, these people who are jittery owing to the fact that opinion polls favour the Andy Uba candidature have shamelessly resorted to such shamanic antics."
