Nnamdi Kanu's Release: A Welcome Development ~ Dr Obidigbo

Dr Chike Obidigbo, the November 18, APC governorship hopeful has praised the Federal government for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

In a statement issued in Awka on Monday by his Media aide, Eneh Victor Chigozie, Dr Obidigbo expressed optimism that Kanu's release will bring relative peace to the southeast region.

"His detention increased palpable tension in igboland with protests that have led to confrontations with security agencies. I am certain that his release will calm fraying nerves in the  southeast and restore relative peace."

The APC governorship aspirant therefore thanked president Mohammadu Buhari who despite fears in some quarters allowed the release of Kanu as ordered by Federal High Court Abuja.

"There were fears, that the FG may not obey the bail granted to Nnamdi Kanu, but Mr President being a father to the nation, disappointed the nay sayers, I thank him for this gesture. Mr President has shown that he is not numb to the  plight of Ndigbo, and will address same under his administration.

"I therefore call on the trial court to reconsider the bail applications of other IPOB members who have been in detention with Kanu and grant them bail, as that will complete the celebration of optimism towards APC government in southeast."

Dr Chike Obidigbo, equally appreciated the roles played by some individuals to ensure that Kanu regains his freedom.

"I thank those that played various roles in seeing that Kanu regained his freedom. Many of us have at different quarters given advice and pleaded for his release. I understand the threat his incarceration posed to southeast, and have quietly offered advice to those in govt for his release."

Finally, the frontline industrialist, urged the the Federal govt to look into various issues fueling ethnic agitations with a view to addressing them fully.
